The Kish Great Marathon has obtained global recognition.
According to Rooykard Kish News Website, the sports event is the first marathon in Iran to receive a grade A approval from the World Athletics Federation and be included in their official calendar.
Nouri Williamson, a representative and senior expert from the World Athletics Federation, visited Kish Island to assess the marathon route and conduct technical tests.
After receiving approval, the race was officially registered as an international standard event.
The third edition of the “Great Kish Marathon” took place on Friday, November 26, 1402, coinciding with Kish week. It attracted 1,500 participants from across the country, as well as a representative from Kenya, making it the largest marathon in Iran and the only one that circles the Persian Gulf island
