the Secretary General of the Iranian Sailing Association Hamid Shomali announced the stabilization of Iran’s position in the World Sailing Federation, stating that this important step will be valuable for the development of the sports sector and serve as a foundation for strengthening the Iranian team in international events.
According to Rooykard-e-Kish News Network,One of the existing obstacles to the international activities of Iranian athletes and coaches was the non-payment of membership fees to the World Sailing Federation, which Hamid Shomali pointed out.
He stated that with the establishment of the Sailing Association and time limits leading up to the World General Assembly, resolving this issue was one of the top priorities of the Iran Sailing Association.
According to Shomali, with the special support of relevant institutions and necessary follow-up, we were fortunate to stabilize Iran’s position by settling outstanding debts.
Regarding the significant achievements of the General Assembly of the World Sailing Federation, which was held in Singapore in 2024 with the participation of more than 120 countries, the Secretary General of the Iranian Sailing Association remarked that Iran was able to showcase its capabilities in this sport effectively during this assembly.
According to Hamid Shomali, this assembly, which focused on the election of the president, vice presidents, and development programs of the World Sailing Federation, provided a suitable platform for reconstructing Iran’s international standing.
The Secretary General of the Iran Sailing Association, discussing Iran’s unique capabilities in marine sports, mentioned that constructive interactions with other countries took place, and proposals were made to strengthen infrastructure and utilize specialized training, which were well-received at this forum.
He emphasized that this approach demonstrates Iran’s commitment to sports diplomacy and sustainable development in this field.
According to Shomali, Iran has become an official member of the World Federation. “This status not only provides opportunities for global presence for the Iranian sports community but also serves as a platform for increasing motivation among the younger generation and developing domestic infrastructure.
Our ultimate goal is to introduce Iran as one of the emerging and serious sailing nations,”the Secretary General of the Iranian Sailing Association concluded.
